Noteworthy Occurrences (positive or negative) Involving DTR Member(s) (i.e. commendation from event coordinator of field officer, interview by news media, safety violation, etc.):
DTR was directed by the overall commander to provide cover for the right and left flanks of the Continental Line forces, and to protect and defend the front of said column against any advance forces at all times, and to provide ranging and foraging expeditions throughout the countryside. DTR performed this duty without hesitation and received the compliments of the event coordinator.
All members of the DTR attending are hereby commended for their actions in this engagement.
Suggestions for the Improvement of Our Unit:
None – every member in attendance portrayed the impression, and actions of a rifle company without fail.
Brief General Impressions of Event:
The Colonial Plantation is located in Ridley Creek State Park just south of Paoli, PA and is devoid of any signs of modern 21st Century life. The surrounding woods, farm, barnyard, fences and stone walls made it seem like we were transported back to the 18th Century. The encampments for both the Crown and Continentals were far apart which added to the realism when making forays and advancements. Although the military impressions made a good showing, more civilian impressions are also needed to add to the atmosphere of the farm.
This event provided a nice atmosphere for a reenactment and living history encampment, and it was small enough to give us an opportunity to practice our impressions without the hype of a larger venue – a great way to augment the year’s event schedule.
This might be an event that we should consider as a regular part of the DTR Rev Rifle schedule. Both the Crown and Continental command, and the rank and file, expressed their appreciation for our showing.
Your Most Humble Servant,
Capt. Chuck Faust, Donegal Rifles
